Thoughts After the 1st Quarter

Wow.

This is, by far, the best the jets have looked all season. They are playing with great intensity and overpowering the Rams in every single aspect of the game.

On offense, Brett Favre has been effective in his limited throwing opportunities, especially the deep throw to Keller after faking the screen and faking the draw to Leon. Thomas Jones seems to have picked up exactly where he left off last week, it seems like he’s getting close to 10 yards nearly every run. This is the man we traded for, ignore his spotty performance last season with the Jets O-Line, even though he still ran for 1,000 yards.

On defense, Jenkins and co. have shut down the running game, allowing only 17 yards rushing. The pass coverage has been very solid. Elam’s blitz was really a thing of beauty, he faked out Orlando Pace by faking falling back into coverage and timed the rush perfectly forcing the fumble for Pace to return for a TD.

Special teams, Feely hasn’t missed a kick yet, so that’s a positive. The kickoff coverage has also been impressive, especially the stop at the 12.

Overall, this game has been incredibly impressive, and being up 17-0 after a quarter is an impressive way to start.
