Mangini Relaxes Team Practices

Eric Mangini is taking a page out of the Tom Coughlin book on how to run team practices late in the season by making them more shorter in time and more relaxed. This week Mangini instructed his team to practice inside the bubble where the temperature is nice and comfortable. In addition, he reduced the time of practices by one half hour.  The thinking here is to keep the team fresh as the season progresses by not running them through rigorous outdoor practices.  This is the time of season when most players usually begin to show wear and tear.  Bill Parcells was a big believer in holding practices outdoors in the winter cause he felt it made the players tougher.  Last year, Tom Coughlin who is a Parcell protege did the opposite and reduced the amount of time of his team’s practices and also move them inside and as it turned out was able to lead his team to the Super Bowl.  My hat comes off for Mangini in trying to think outside the box.
