Lots of Yelling

FLORHAM PARK–Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson was fined ,000 for his touchdown celebration on Sunday. Plaxico Burress’ response? “He can pay for it.” And that, was that.

For whatever reason, there are still communication issues, even 11 games into the season. The disconnect on third-and-two between Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes is just one example. Rex Ryan voiced confidence that the kinks will be worked out.  He said the two are, “Definitely working through it…It’s things like that we’re trying like crazy to clean up.”

Burress gave a similar statement. “It all works together,” he said of the responsibilities that the receivers have to their quarterback. “Getting to the proper landmarks, be disciplined in our routes, Not cutting our routes two-to-three yards short.”

Mike De Vito was the only player held out of practice completely on Wednesday. Ryan has pretty much already ruled him out for Sunday.

LaDainian Tomlinson and Jeremy Kerley were back on the practice field and practiced fully. Ryan expects both of them to be ready to play against the Redskins.

As for Shonn Greene, he also practiced fully, but admitted it’s a challenge. Greene, who injured his ribs during the Broncos game, said he’s never been this hurt, this late in the year. However, he said he’s taking things day to day and doesn’t see any reason why he won’t play on Sunday.

Sanchez was booed during pregame introductions on Sunday, which hasn’t sat well with some of his teammates. Jim Leonhard, during a radio appearance on Tuesday, said as a result, the team just felt right from the start of the game that they were alone.

Darrelle Revis called it disappointing and unfair. However, Revis acknowledged that it wasn’t anything he hadn’t seen or heard before. He recalled hearing boos for both Chad Pennington and Brett Favre at various times. But, he said, “It’s disappointing because we feed off our fans. Our fans sometimes have mixed feelings. They always did and they always will. That’s probably everybody’s fans.” However, he wanted to remind people that it’s never one person’s fault. “This is not tennis,” Revis said. “This is not a one-man sport.”

As for Sanchez’s response, “This is the market we’re in. Fans expect a lot. You can’t let that stuff get to you. Whether they’re booing or cheering, we have to play our best.”

The release of Emanuel Cook has generated some questions and speculation about what was behind it. Publicly Cook, who was claimed by the Ravens, said that he doesn’t know why he was released and that GM Mike Tannenbaum told him simply that they had a better player for the position. The Jets have activated Tracy Wilson to replace Cook. Ryan spoke highly of Wilson’s hard work and improvement on Monday. So, the release remains a mystery, but at this point, in looks like it simply may have been due to less-than-optimal performance by Cook on some, or all, levels.

Wide receiver Dexter Jackson has been re-signed to the practice squad.

Sanchez was caught on camera during Sunday’s game appearing to be angrily yelling at somebody. Not quite. I spoke to Brodney Pool who was standing immediately to Sanchez’s left and he said that Sanchez was simply pumping up the defense, albeit with some colorful and unprintable language. Linebackers coach Jeff Weeks was seen pulling Sanchez away, but only because the defense was getting ready to go on the field. Pool assured me that Sanchez was not at all angry, just exceedingly fired up.

Linebacker Nick Bellore got his Welcome to the NFL moment this week. He was fined ,500 for a hit during the Bills game. He hit the guy in the side, not in the head, so he’s still a little unclear of the reason behind the fine. Might have been a defenseless player situation.
