Prospect Watch: WR Golden Tate

As the Jets journey towards the draft in April, we here at TJB will be taking a look into prospects that could be on the Jets draft board. Today we will be taking a look at: Golden Tate.

golden tate Prospect Watch: WR Golden Tate

The Good: Tate possess great vision and has great speed. He is very agile and has great hands along with great body control. He can explode off the line and often force defenses into situations where they will need help to take down Tate. He possess the skills to be a great NFL receiver and with Cotch and Edwards in the fold, Tate would only make the Jets receivers much more difficult to deal with.

The Bad: His route running needs improvement of course he has come a long way after switching from the running back position. He will occasionally lose focus and will drop the ball (might want to keep him away from Braylon). Tate doesn’t enjoy blocking much and needs to improve (might want Braylon to help him there).

The Bottom Line: Tate is a very speedy receiver that could be another weapon added to Sanchez’s arsenal. He would be a nightmare for defense’s and would help the Jets with their “Ground and Pound” mentality though I’m sure they are going to try and balance out the offense a bit more next season. Despite the small flaws, Tate would be a great addition and quite a few mock drafts have the Jets taking Tate at 29. While he would be a great pickup, the Jets have other needs to consider and the Jets may pass on Tate even if he is still around.

Below are some of Tate’s highlights:
